in the dark candied streets
peppered with your smiles
i sense the slowness of time
the plenum humming silence between our words
neon signs, normally hollow consumerist husks
now slip gently into the sweet background
of your auburn hair, hungry chestnut eyes
in moments frozen with life
reflecting the sometimes divine
through all of it, your face framed
in what could only be gold
(or is it hope?)
with a look of devouring rainbows
